The 2010 Le Mans Classic again proved to be a spectacular event with some of the finest cars from 1923 through to 1979. The Wilkins / Catlow Lola T296 ran well in the first race finishing 8th out of a grid of 69 cars, unfortunately in the night session the car suffered technical problems and was unable to complete the rest of the weekend.
The 1977 Porsche 936 driven by Jean-marc Luco and Jacques Nicolet proved to be all conquering as it did in period.
The Neil Primrose Lola T290 resplendant in the original Gitanes colours suffered from the mechanical gremlins. The car is powered by a David Gathercole FVC engine.
The Ian Giles Toj SC206 was unfortunately damaged in the night practice session, this was the cars first outing after its rebuild. Luckily Pilote Sam Wilson was able to walk away from the shunt with no injuries. Parts for Toj cars are difficult to get hold of, with a lot of the items needing specialist manufacture.
The Russel Buust / David Freeman Lloyds Chevron B31 was running well with its Le Mans bodywork on and was let down by electrical problems.
Ludovic Caron driving his Chevron B21 showed a clean pair of heals to cars that should have beaten it.
All in all a great weekend with very hot weather and a few cold beers. This bi-annual event is a must see for any petrol head
