Clay Pigeon Raceway February 13th 2011 – Driver Dan Martin

Senior Rotax racer Dan Martin from Weymouth, Dorset. Had a lucky escape whilst leading the pack at a very wet and windy Clay Pigeon Raceway. He had just taken the lead from kart 99 and on entering the horseshoe turn had a tap up the back that sent him “off piste” and straight into the barriers! The kart went onto its side and stoped, on its side!, just as well because the next thing to hit was the circuit ambulance. Dan Martin, whilst still seated, pushed the kart back onto 4 wheels and drove away with only minor damage to the Kart. Luckily Dan was unhurt.

F1 Team Orders Dropped

Interesting to read today that the FIA has dropped the ban on team orders for Formula 1 in 2011. The announcement was made after the World Motor Sport Council meeting on 10/12/10. They have said that they would be able to punish teams if it is considered that a team has brought the sport into disrepute with their actions. A very fine line!

Racer Chris Hague reaches new heights

It is good to hear that former Formula 750 chassis designer and builder Chris Hague is still into his competition, but not in a car! Chris has taken up competitive model aeroplane flying in Dorset.

Chris Hague built very competitive Formula 750 race cars in the late seventies and early eighties. The Formula 750 series is a well established race series and it is run by the 750 Motor Club. Many of Chris’s cars still survive and we even know of one that is competing in Florida USA With its Reliant 850 all alloy engine it shows a clean pair of heals to more powerful cars through the corners.

The Formula 750 Series is still well supported in the UK and todays chosen engine is a Fiat 1000cc power plant. It offers competitive, affordable motorsport and being at club level, it has helpful friendly drivers.

If you have ever met Chris Hague, this link will give you his latest Results
